After experiencing many a night at the infamous OMansion¹ rocking to the
sounds of good friends Sean Quinn and Kasey Taylor, Chris Meehan made the decision to take his passion for music to the next level. No longer satisfied with just listening to DJ¹s and buying records as a hobby, it was time to buy decks and make a career of it. So the car was sold, the decks were purchased and the practise commenced.
Chris' first gig was probably the most appropriate he could have wished for
- a long set at a testimonial event recognising two of the major influences
in his musical career Sean Quinn & Kasey Taylor. With many an industry
type at that first gig to witness the talent of this up and coming DJ, it
wasn't long before Chris was gracing the decks on a more permanent basis.
With residencies at Republic/ROOM 680 Saturday and Q Bar Sunday so came the spots at Melbourne¹s parties Slinky, Two Tribes O03, Steve Lawler @ QBH, God¹s Kitchen and Private Function to name a few.
Whilst building his reputation as one of Melbourne's finest DJ's, Chris
dedicated his spare time to furthering his production knowledge. Late 2003
saw Chris team up with Kasey Taylor to record under the name of Taylor &
Meehan. Their first release "South Of The Border" released on Vapour
Recordings early this year has taken the progressive world by storm, making it into the charts and crates of some of the worlds big name DJ¹s including Satoshi Tomiie & John Digweed. With three follow up tracks already completed and scheduled for release this year through Vapour, Chris Meehan is a name you'll be hearing a lot more of in clubs and record stores across the world.
